Utility-related conflicts are a major cause of project delays. Alcantar and Associates has performed successful Utility Coordination work on numerous public transportation/street related projects for the City and other government agencies.  By effectively identifying utilities and coordinating conflicts, significant cost savings are realized and schedule delays are avoided.

Alcantar and Associates Utility Coordination Team will:

• Develop a Master List of existing utilities encountered (including private utilities), identify potential impacts, and describe alternative mitigation measures.

•  We will review and verify specific characteristics and locations of existing utilities.

• Identify utility conflicts that present fatal flaws to project alternatives or final project design.

• Utilize the utilities list to ensure that all known utilities are indicated on project plans, profiles, and sections. The conflict log will be referenced for coordinating utility relocations and to note any utilities that may require special protection during project construction.  As the project design progresses, we will:
  • Update the affected utility agencies of the design status.
    
  • Maintain an open, ongoing exchange of information with the agencies to facilitate the future relocation activities during construction.
    
  • Maintain a Utility Location File with a log of source of utility locations (GIS, One-Call, as-builts, survey, potholes), any utility location disagreements arising from differing information sources, and the resolution of location discrepancies. Reference Utility locations to plan/profile sheets.
    
  • Utilize the updated utility list to develop a relocation plan for utilities directly impacted by the project and appurtenant facilities construction.
    
  • Provide potholing services.
